I woke up one day in the fall of 2018 with a burning desire to paint. So I said to myself, "Self, if you want to paint, you have to actually paint!!" So I bought supplies and started painting every day. I wasn't very good at first... I have no formal training in art. I always thought I wasn't artistic. But as I continued to paint I learned I have a gift for blending colors, creating texture, especially with abstract paintings.
I believe painting is a powerful way for me to process the intense feelings and emotions I've had ever since I was young. I'm grateful that even at this later time in my life, I have awakened to an amazing, wonderful and passionate expression of my feelings onto canvas. And I want to share it with the world!
I love the flexibility of acrylics. An artist can use a little or a lot... and I often use a lot of paint for texture and blending colors. Acrylics mix well with other media. I've used sand, modeling paste with templates, and other things, but I love the texture and the complexity that tissue paper can give a painting. I let the tissu

I let the tissue paper show me what the painting wants to be and where the paint needs to go.
I often paint with my fingers, especially when using tissue paper. I love the feel of the paint as it glides onto the canvas or as I push it into the crevices of the tissue paper.
Although I love landscapes, I am most passionate about abstracts. They give me the freedom to explore boundaries and experiment! My abstract paintings are unique and one-of-a kind. I don't think I could reproduce them no matter how hard I tried.
I am fascinated with color... blending, shading and creating just the right feeling. My beloved late husband once told me that I feel my way through the Nebula, like Spock in Star Trek... and I think that's really true with my painting. I love to let the canvas or the tissue paper tell me what comes next.

Since I have no formal training, it's all an experiment to me which is a rich and fantastic blessing to someone who used to be so perfectionistic. So I don't really follow any one type of art expression. I just experiment with what calls to me.
One of my favorite artists is Jackson Pollock... I relate to him a lot. He didn't believe in mistakes. He just let the canvas tell him where the paint needed to go.
For the first time in my life, I am actually passionate and excited about something I am doing... I've enjoyed my work, but not like this... this is passion and love and creativity. This is where I want to be...
for the rest of my life.
